Spillage Response Awareness Training

What to do After the Spillage is Cleaned up?

  1. Remember that the absorbent materials now have the very same hazardous properties as the originally spilt material.
  2. Safely dispose of all contaminated, disposable coveralls, gloves, and respirators.
  3. Decontaminate all non-disposable items (brooms, shovels, PPE, etc.) using a mild detergent and water.
  4. Report the spillage and cleanup to your supervisor, manager, or health and safety officer as soon as possible.
  5. Review what happened, to aid in the prevention of future spillages.
  6. No matter the size of the spillage, record the incident and the actions taken to prevent exposure and cleanup.
  7. Ensure the supplies used to clean up the spillage are replaced immediately.
